Duncan Jones Discusses WARCRAFT Movie

I’ve written a few posts discussing the assassin’s Creed adaptation to the big screen next year, but I’ve yet to talk at all about the other big video game adaptation set to hit movie theaters next year.  That film of course is Warcraft.  Warcraft has completed principal photography a while back, but the movie isn’t set to be released until June 10 of next year.  The main reason for that is due to the heavy post-production timeframe required to finish all the special effects in the film, reportedly over 1,000 VFX shots in total.  Director Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) sat down with Wired recently to discuss some of the challenges that went into directing his first big budget feature:

Tilda Swinton In Talks For Doctor Strange

Tilda Swinton (Snowpiercer) is on her way to joining the Marvel cinematic universe.  Although Doctor Strange is set to hit theaters in 2016 and will begin filming in November of this year, not much progress has been made on the casting front.  Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) will star as the title character and Scott Derrickson (Deliver Us From Evil) will direct but apart from that we’ve only heard rumors of Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years A Slave) possibly being attached as constant names thrown around for the Ancient One.  Names like Ken Watanabe, Morgan Freeman and Bill Nighy have all been rumored to be options for the Ancient One in prior weeks, so this comes as big surprise to hear that Tilda Swinton is now in negotiations for the role.

Chris Pine Might Join Wonder Woman

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Pine (Star Trek: Into Darkness) is in negotiations to be in Wonder Woman.  Pine is up for the part of Steve Trevor, the love interest of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Diana Prince.

News on Channing Tatum’s Gambit Film

With comic book movies being all the rage these days and becoming huge tentpole franchises, film studios are willing to take more chances on lesser known properties that might otherwise not have been made.  Evidence of that can be seen in how passion projects like Deadpool for Ryan Reynolds and Gambit for Channing Tatum are now in development.  Deadpool is much further along at this point (currently shooting with a February 2, 2016 release date), but Tatum is actively moving forward with Gambit as well.

Check out the trailer from the revival of The Twilight Zone, hosted and narrated by Jordan Peele (Us, Get Out).  The show will premiere with two episodes April 1 on CBS All Access and then Thursday nights beginning April 11.
