My name is Jason Schooling and simply put I am a huge fan of movies. I’ve decided to write this blog not because I have any background in writing (which I hope is not painfully obvious with each post) or in the entertainment industry, but because I am truly passionate about movies and love discussing film any opportunity I get. So to help preserve my marriage by not talking my wife’s ear off, I instead opted to pursue an alternative outlet. Ergo, a blog.
To offer a little background on me, I am a civil engineer by trade. I graduated with a BS in civil and a minor in theater. Again, that’s not because I sought to follow up with theater as a career, but because I love acting, script writing, set design… basically I love the whole process of performing arts and wanted to keep that a part of my life. I have a lovely wife and, as of writing this, we’re expecting our first child (giddy beyond rational thought). I am a Christian and very active in my church. (Yes, I believe that my faith has an influence on my movie-going experience as I believe anyone’s worldview alters the way they perceive the day to day life around them… but that’s a discussion for another day.) I’m also a huge sports fan and particularly love playing basketball. So that’s me in a nutshell.
I know there’s literally millions of movie blogs out there and I don’t have delusions of grandeur that this blog will be a huge hit or revolutionize the entertainment industry in some way. It’s simply a passion project. I love film. I feel it can be entertaining and/or a beautiful artistic expression. Those who know me are aware of this passion and how I talk about movies all the time, so I figured it was finally time to blog about my thoughts. Hopefully this can be another forum where you can tune in for movie news or discussions and share that experience with me.
